This work represents the free bear, the traveler who travels the mountains and the plains. Originally, the Native American bear roamed the Great Plains, living in the forested and open areas of western North America. The presence of the bear in the plains connects it spiritually to the Native American peoples. Almost all tribes place the Native American bear as an important part of their culture. Known for their ability to keep fighting even when injured, bears are closely linked to healing and medicine.
